"I believe in equal opportunity. Doing what you love. Making a difference. Helping others. Enjoying life."

I'm driven by...

Prove you can do what you want if you put your mind to it.

“Passion for what I do.

Family.

Friends.

Learning.

A desire to make a difference.

To change things for the better.”

Associate Professor Louise Purton

My goal is to...

“Make a difference.

Be a positive role model.

Be a great mum.

Promote equality.

Prove you can do what you want if you put your mind to it.

Use research to help change peoples lives.”

What is your proudest moment?

“I feel a great sense of pride when people who are important to me, including other researchers, are proud of my achievements.”

Can you tell us about the work the Leukaemia Foundation enables you to do?

“The research funds that the Leukaemia Foundation has given me has been essential in allowing me to initiate projects and further my research at St Vincent's Institute of Medical Research, Melbourne, which has progressed into clinical trials to help patients with blood cancers.”

Associate Professor Louise Purton

Why is research so important in the fight against blood cancer?

“Research allows us to understand what causes blood cancers. Without understanding why blood cancer occurs it is harder to cure a patient. Research is the best chance of finding a cure for blood cancer, and that's why research is very important.”

What Drives Us

Holden proudly driving diversity

In one sense, Holden is a microcosm of Australia – one of the most diverse nations in the world. And that's why we're so passionate about things like gender parity, LGBT+ rights, and Indigenous, cross-generational and disability issues. We've still got a long way to go – but we're making great progress.
